1. Why did Orangzeb ban the playing of the pungi?

Hindi - Orangzeb ne pungi bajane par rok kyo lagayi?

Ans - Orangzeb banned the playing of the pungi because it had a shrill unpleasant voice.

Hindi -  Orangzeb ne pungi bajane per isliye rok lagai kyunki uski awaz bahut teh or sunane mein acchi Nahin thi.

 

2. How is a shehnai different from a pungi?

Hindi - Shehnai pungi se kis Tarah alag hai?

Ans - Shehnai is a hollow pipe that is longer and broader than the pungi and it has seven holes on the body of it. With the opening and closing of these holes, soft sound are produced. Whereas pungi is a ball shaped in between with shrill sound.

Hindi - shehnai ek khokhla pipe hai jo ki pungi se lamba or choda hai or is par 7 chhed banae gaye hain. in holls ko band karte or kholte hue madhur awaaz nikalti hai. jab ki pungi bich se gend jaisi hai or iski awaaz bahut tej he.

3. Where was the shehnai played traditionally? How did Bismillah Khan changed this?

 Hindi - Traditionally shahnai kahan bjayi jaati thi? Bismillah Khan ne ise kaise badla?

Ans - Traditionally shehnai was played at the royal cort, in the temples and weddings.
Bismillah Khan invented new Rags with the shehnai and thus brought it on the stage with other instruments.
 Hindi - Traditionally shehnai Raj darbar mein, mandiron mein or shadiyon mein baje jaati thi. Bismillah Khan shehnai se nai Rago ko invent kiya or is Tarah shehnai, dusre instrument ke sath  stage par samne aayi.

4. When and how did Bismillah Khan get his big break?

Ans - In 1938, Bismillah Khan got a big break with the opening of the all India radio in Lucknow.

Hindi - 1938 mein Bismillah Khan ko ek bada avsar Mila jab Lucknow mein all India radio ki shuruaat hui.

 

5. Where did Bismillah Khan play the shehnai on 15th August 1947? Why was the event historic?

 Hindi - Bismillah Khan ne 15 August 1947 ko kha par shehnai bajai? Ye event historic kyo yha?

Ans - Bismillah Khan played the shehnai from the Red Fort to greet the nation.
The event was historic as on this day India gained freedom.

Hindi -  Bismillah Khan ne Lal Kile se nation ko abhivadan karne ke liye shehnai bajai. ye ghatna historic thi kyunki is din Bharat ne swatantrata prapt ki.

6. Why did Bismillah Khan refuse to start a shehnai school in the U.S.A.?

Hindi -  Bismillah Khan ne U.S.A. mein shehnai school kholne se mna kyon kar diya?

Ans - Bismillah Khan refused to start a shehnai school in the U.S.A. because he was fond of India very especially loved Banaras, its banks of river Ganga and his native place Dumraon. He did not want to leave India ever.
Hindi - Bismillah Khan in U.S.A. mein Chennai school kholne se isliye mana kar diya kyunki vah Bharat se bahut pyar karte the. Khaskar Banaras or Ganga ke kinaro se or apni bachpan ki jagah dumraon se. vah Bharat ko kabhi bhi hamesha ke liye Nahin chhodana chahte the.

Ans - Once one of his students wanted him to open a shehnai school in the U.S.A. He refused saying he wants to be near river Ganga.

Many film directors were willing to call Bismillah Khan to Mumbai but after doing two films, he realized he would not like the artificial film world. He only wanted to be in Banaras near river Ganga.
