Subject: Request to publish an article on road safety in your esteemed daily.

Dear Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to share my opinion on the rising intolerance on the road amongst people and urge them to follow rules while driving vehicles to avoid crashes and road rage. I have been observing that people on road these days. They have become highly intolerant and even the slightest mistake by one person takes the face of a giant quarrel or deadly road rage.

The problem lies in the fact that people do not follow rules and drive as per their convenience. This leads to accidents and fights on roads. People need to understand the importance of rules and maintaining peace and harmony by being tolerant of others' mistakes. Traffic rules have been made for our safety and they must be followed by us.

I hope you will publish my article in your newspaper and support my views.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Subject: Advantages and disadvantages of banning crackers.

Dear Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to bring to the public and the authorities the advantages and disadvantages of putting a ban on crackers. While we all know that bursting of crackers results in noise pollution, air pollution and severe (serious) burn injuries, it is also good for certain people in a particular way.

People who work in production factories earn their living from making crackers and if there would be a ban on these, many people would lose their means of livelihood. Especially during Diwali and marriage seasons, the demand for fire crackers goes up and more people get to earn a living or some bonus amount for the betterment of their families.

On the other hand, many children lose their lives and often suffer serious burn injuries or harm their eyes and lungs so badly that they are unable to lead a normal life and hence, die at a very tender age (adolescence) by working in such factories. Thus, it is advisable to produce green crackers instead of putting a complete ban on them for the betterment of both the labourers and the people bursting them and our environment.

I hope you will publish this letter and help me make more and more people aware of the pros and cons of the ban.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours truly

Anu

Subject: Urge to promote the organization of book fairs and reading habit.

Dear Sir/Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to voice out my opinion on book fairs and the habit of reading. I recently visited a book fair and was thrilled by the vast variety of books available for reading and sale. Publishers and booksellers from across the country had come under one roof to enlighten people.

It was an enriching experience and I found some of the rarest texts published of all times at the book fair. There should be more such fairs in the city and both students as well as adults should be encouraged to visit book fairs to inculcate the habit of reading in them.

I hope you will publish my views in your newspaper.

Thanking you in anticipation

Subject: Educating the Underprivileged

Sir

Through the columns of your reputed newspaper, I wish to draw your attention towards the movement ‘Sarvashiksha Abhiyan’ which aims at providing knowledge to all children. Even the act RTE-Right to Education also ensures education for all children between the age of four to fourteen. But these movements and acts do not show themselves implemented anywhere especially in the underprivileged class. There are still many children who do not go to school. They either work as a domestic labour or work in factories, dhabas, etc. It is disturbing to note that our government’s plans are not bearing any fruits. It is all because of lack of awareness towards these kinds of movements.

We all need the help of print media as well as electronic media to spread messages of awareness to the masses. The underprivileged children must be made to realize that they have the right to get education. So, they must go to school. The foremost thing is to discourage child-labour so as to give these children a bright future. I hope you will pay attention to this noble cause and publish it in your newspaper.

Thanking you.

Subject: Rising Prices

Sir

I wish to draw your attention towards the inflation which has made life difficult for common man. It was not so in earlier times when things were very cheap and were within the reach of almost everyone. But the sharp rise in prices of all commodities (वस्तुओं) has made it difficult for a common man to survive. He cannot bear even the daily expenses of his family. This is creating disappointment and frustration in their lives. Corruption is also on the rise, people are turning to bribery to avoid financial crisis which is the root cause of all evils. The society is taking a bad turn only because of inflation.

It is high time that the concerned authorities should wake up to this social cause and try to put reins to the rising price so that people can lead a comfortable and peaceful life.

Thanking you.

Yours sincerely

Sachin

Subject: Human Dependence on Technology.

Sir

Through this letter of mine, I wish to draw the attention of everyone towards the increased dependence of humans on technology. We use the internet for any type of information which is just a click away. Everyone, whether a child or an adult, wants gadgets like cell phones, i-pods, laptops, etc. There is no doubt, technology is a boon to mankind and it has a great future. But in my opinion we should not depend on it because excess of everything is bad. It's making everyone lazy. On the other hand, cyber crimes are also increasing. The key word for this is caution.

We should use technology judiciously (wisely) and not completely depend on it. We should believe in natural and simple life.

I hope you will publish this letter in your newspaper for the better future of mankind.

Thanking you.

Yours sincerely

Subject: Changing Trend in Children’s Activities

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the general public towards the changing trend in the recreational activities of children of modem tunes. It is surprising to know that today's children do not want to spend their free time in reading books, playing sports or any other outdoor activity, as was done in the years 1960-1980. Rather the modern teenagers are more interested in indoor activities. Only 10% of them are interested in reading a book while 60% can be seen busy with gadgets. This is not a positive trend. This is leading our children towards poor health and stamina.

In my opinion, children should be taught the importance of reading books and this can be done at the school level and also with the interference of parents. The advantages of outdoor games should be emphasized. They should realize that outdoor sports provide them with discipline as well as the value of team spirit. Parents should not provide them electronic gadgets in the initial stage.

I hope that this letter of mine will spread awareness among children as well as parents and children's recreational activities will again get a positive direction.

Thanking you.

Subject: Poor Water Supply.

Sir

Through the columns of your reputed newspaper, I wish to draw your attention towards the water supply in our colony. There is a lot of water shortage in our colony. We are supplied water only for 3-4 hours in a whole day. At that time the pressure is so less that it is very difficult to finish the work on time. Also, sometimes the water supplied is dirty and unclean. Most of the time, when water is supplied, there is a power cut at the same time, which affects us a lot.

So, I request the concerned authorities to improve the quality of water supplied in our area and increase the hours of supply so that the residents of our area do not face the problem. Everyone knows that water is our basic need and without it we cannot function.

I hope some positive action is taken by the authorities at the earliest.

Thanking you.

Subject - The nuisance created by the stray animals.

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw you're kind attention of the concerned authorities towards the nuisance created by the stray animals.

We have been facing this problem for a long time. Often, the drivers blow the horn but the stray animals do not move from the road. These animals cause traffic jam as well as accidents. The women and school kids are not able to cross the road because of stray animals.

Many times, the stray animals bite the common people. In recent days, a five years old boy was injured by the dogs. Besides of this, they pollute our environment.

We have complained many times to the concerned authorities but no action has been taken yet. I hope that my letter will get an appropriate space in your esteemed newspaper.

Subject: Nuisance caused by loudspeakers in the city during examination days.

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the nuisance caused by the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers at religious places, wedding processions, market places and jagrans during the examination days.

Students are unable to concentrate on the heavy revision work during these days. The result is that they perform poorly in the examinations and this leads to frustration and unhappiness among the students. Their parents also suffer due to it. It is high time the authorities concerned take a serious note of this nuisance and initiate remedial measures to check the problem. Use of loudspeakers should be totally banned irrespective of the place where these are used. It is not only a cause of nuisance but also adds to the noise pollution.

We have complained many times to the concerned authorities but no action has been taken yet. I hope that my letter will get an appropriate space in your esteemed newspaper.

Thanking you

Yours faithfully

Prabhu Kumar
